Training

Training for 2008 is every other Saturday starting February 9th. The schedule may change due to holidays and Cal Fire participation, so please see the training schedule. To join the fire department, just come to a scheduled training or contact us.

CLVFA volunteers train at our locations with Cal Fire for HAZMAT, confined space, SIDS, elder abuse, child abuse, sexual harassment, and in depth wildland training.

CLVFA volunteers train with the American Red Cross in San Jose for First Aid, CPR and AEDs.

We have additional instructors, including Cal Star helicopter rescue and propane emergencies.

Our Fire Chief teaches wildland firefighting when Cal Fire is not available.

This year's training topics will be a HAZMAT refresher (new volunteers can go to joint training with other volunteer fire departments for the full course), confined space, CPR, truck engineering (learning to use trucks), safety, first aid & AED, and structure fire. See our training schedule for a full list of classes.
